When Breath Becomes Air -- this one DESTROYED me

This is a memoir by a neurosurgeon who developed advanced lung cancer near the end of his residency.

I don't know what else to say except that this book made me cry at least as hard as "The Fault in Our Stars" did.

  • No can do  :(
  • This is my book club's selection for May. I probably wouldn't have picked it up on my own, but I'm glad I read it. He was such a beautiful writer. It's ironic that I read it the same week Prince died, since so many Prince songs deal with the life is short, make the most of your time theme.
  • It's beautiful, but so sad.  And I read it on the plane home after my father died.   Cathartic, I guess.
